Titelbeschreibung

Hanotaux, Gabriel, French diplomat, politician, and historian (1853-1944): 2 autograph letters signed.

Paris, 16. V. 1928 and 16. X. 1928. 8vo. Together 3 pp.

Both to a clergyman and fellow member of the Académie Française, very likely to be Henri Bremond. In the earlier letter, Hanotaux thanks the recipient for a brochure and talks about the relevance of old research, mentioning a "Rue Royale" and that "Sicily is an invention of professors", comparing it to speculations about the pyramids. In the second part of the letter, he mentions mutual friends including the journalist and critic André Hallays and the journalist and novelist Louis d'Illiers. - In the letter from October, Hantaux announces his return to Paris and promises that he will forward a letter by the recipient concerning a Louis Chaminade from Pons (Charente-Maritime) to the secretariat of both the Institut de France and the Académie Française and recommend Chaminade.
